History
Wokingham Town Mobility was established in May 1998 and has grown dramatically, particularly in recent years. We anticipate providing 10,000 scooter rides in 2011/12.
Mission Statement
To maintain the independence of elderly and disabled Wokingham residents and visitors, safely and with full consideration for the end user.
Valuing and engaging vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our community whilst promoting inclusion.
What we do
We aim to help anybody with walking difficulties (temporary or permanent) get around Wokingham Town Centre on a mobility scooter. You do not have to be a Blue Badge holder or a Wokingham Resident to use the scheme.
We offer two services:
We can deliver scooters to members’ homes who live within a half mile radius of the Town Hall.
If members live outside this radius we can arrange to meet them at convenient points in the Town Centre for example “Keep Mobile” drop off points, car parks, bus stops etc.
When you have finished with the scooter we will collect the vehicle at an agreed time and place.
Opening Hours
The scheme is open from 8.30 a.m to 2.30 p.m Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The scheme can be extended to keep the scooter outside these hours in certain circumstances.

Funding
Wokingham Town Mobility is funded by a grant from Wokingham Town Council, members’ fees and adhoc fundraising events. In 2010/11 we also received support from Michael Hardy Lettings, Luff Investments, Tesco Charity Trust, Berkshire Community Foundation and Sun Mobility.
Fundraising
We are aiming to raise £20,000 by 31st March 2012 to expand the scheme and to fund the purchase of five new mobility scooters. If you would like to donate, please visit http://www.localgiving.com/charity/wokinghamtownmobility
